Although the scoring is a little overbearing, maximizing the way you score is quite satisfying. Building your town in an efficient manner is just puzzling enough for tile placement. This, added with the blind bidding, makes the game better than I expected.

Not a lot of decision making. Just what you bid. Luck dependent on the cards that come up. The art and iconography is familiar to those who know Carson City.

Where this game is different than the original game of Carson City I think it stands strongly on its own. This version is lighter and incorporates a bidding mechanic that actually works quite well (I am not usually a fan of this mechanic). The tile laying aspect is solid and interesting and I like how the characters have been incorporated into the game. The built in robot-player(s) is a bit strange but it works well enough. I think this game will get better with more plays now that I am familiar with the special abilities and buildings. This game is a definite must-play-again.
