Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Games that use the Memory mechanic require players to recall previous game events or information in order to reach an objective.
Memory
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.

Rating after first play highly subject to change. Engine building synergistic drafting games aren’t really my thing, nor are heavy themes and miniatures, still the gameplay was interesting, clever and seemingly well balanced

I'm only rating it this high because I'm aware that one play is not enough to fully judge any game, but man did I not have a good time. Aside from the standard thing of not knowing what any of the other cards were (much less how they fit into the game), you can still only get a heads up on ~2/3rds of all the cards in the draft. Even if you do know what your opponent has, you can easily find yourself strategically blocked off by their combination of cards and positioning, leaving you mostly unable to score in the 3rd age. Maybe it'd get better with more plays, in which case I'll update this. But holy hell was that a bad first impression.

Good strategic dudes on a map game with a depressing lack of theme. It has to do mainly with the main mechanic of the game, draft of cards, which for me doesn't do any justice to the vikings theme. At least there is some interaction going on with the battles. Art is great, ok miniatures, but the main thing should have been bigger and sturdier cards (and a more interesting map) since they are the main aspect of the game. I also hate combat with cards 'cause is so much more restrictive than the epic drama provided by a dice. Also this game has serious scaling problems. If a player starts well, he's already win and will be pretty impossible to reach.
