Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

This game is a perfect lunchtime game for co-workers. Designed by an Engineer. The hacker theme is just a cute skin. The core mechanic of the game makes it a replacement for all trick-taking games out there. There's competition but not conflict. Rules are easy to understand with additional pieces to change the layout and keep you coming back for more for a long time.

Backed on Kickstarter. Basic idea of the game is very nice - but after few plays i find some rules weird. Not a hit i was hoping for. Traded away.

Really wanted to like this game as I'm fascinated with games that mash up trick taking with a board. I don't mind the dumbed-down Asshole-like card play; because it's combined with a board game, the card play should be simpler so that the overall game moves faster. I do like how the special Black Hat card works ... it's a very powerful card that's dangerous to reuse too long. Also, it gives some value to the low cards as this is the only way to win the Black Hat card. However, the hugest flaw with this game, and what made it torture is that you have to win tricks to do anything on the board, which is by far the most interesting part of the game. So if you're stuck with only middling cards, you will be mindlessly playing cards with no consequence to yourself or to any other player.
