Beyond the Rift: A Perdition’s Mouth Card Game (Kickstarter)
30m - 120m
1 - 4 Players
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Tested in Tabletopia. Interesting premise for a campaign-style game, and some concepts (equipment switching cards in your deck, general structure of combat) have potential. However, a lot of things aren't well defined within the rules, and the game has an incredible amount of random swing due to how the Threat Deck is used, and the visual design still leaves a lot to be desired. Might turn into something more interesting, but this still seems like it needs a lot of refinement.

Initial plays are very promising. The core gameplay itself feels very smooth and streamlined and it’s a smart and simple system with the variety coming from the scenarios. It doesn’t feel too unwieldy. My wife did say she thought it was fiddly but I disagree. It’s definitely my favorite adventure card game. I do wish there was more progression within each scenario itself. As it is, in game very little is going to change. But it’s not a big deal because the core gameplay is so good. Character variety is very good and ai is solid and easy to run. First mini arch done. I think this could be a top tier game for me and maybe one of the few campaign games I completely play through.

Not sure if this is for me. It's too punishing. I rapidly get a deck full of wounds and can't do anything. I did like Niffil better than Bastian so maybe I should go back to him.
