Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

Almost retroactively marked down 2nd edition because this is better. Much cleaner, less clutter, and with better proof-reading of rules evidenced. The setup is easier, and the haunts don't feel as hard to work through nowadays. Overall, an improvement on everything in the previous edition.

This game is a delightful and amusing experience, boasting straightforward rules and a wealth of thematic charm. It's perfect for a group of folks who don't take winning or losing too seriously. The haunts offer a wide range of difficulty and balance, but really, who's concerned about that when you're in it for pure fun? The game's ambiance is reminiscent of those classic Scooby Doo cartoons, which adds to the enjoyment. What's truly impressive is the abundance of 50 scenarios, a stark contrast to pricier games that often offer limited replayability. It may sound cliché, but this game is a fantastic choice for the Halloween season
