Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

7/22: Still enjoy this game. Elegant, fun, tactile, strategic. 1/18: Great, elegant game with simple rules but plenty of depth. A true pleasure of an abstract game with gorgeous, pleasing components. I also have the joker tiles and I am eager to give them a try. It was a must-have from the first runthrough I saw and after three plays, I'm happy to say my initial impression was correct. The length is perfect; the game ends at just the right time. Potential future 10.

This is the game that got us started in the hobby. Walked in a shop not knowing much about tabletop gaming and grabbed this. We didn't know how to play it til we got our own copy but it quickly became a staple. A classic game, can't deny it.

Well done and very pretty abstract strategy. I wouldn't turn down a game, but since I own Sagrada and it scratches a similar itch (and is a game I truthfully like a little more), I probably wouldn't buy it unless I had loads of money to really flesh out my game collection.
