Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Absolutely brilliant arena skirmish game of just the right complexity and length. Endlessly replayable with tons of different scenarios and a fascinating cast of diverse characters. Luck can be a strong and sometimes decisive factor... but the skill cap is definitely very high in this game. The only bit that rubs me the wrong way is the card-play system. It is just a bit too hard to factor in all the information about what your opponent's characters can do if you have to remember all the possible cards your opponent can play in addition to the skills of the characters itself. Unless you play this A LOT, some rote memorisation is definitely necessary for good play.

Disclaimer: Beta tester This expansion provides a number of new game states to the game. I over all enjoy this expansion, though it does have some odd mechanics of a couple of the characters that I am still trying to figure out how they blend in with other characters. Pros: -Additional content for the base game Cons: -Still has the multi language cards thus bloating cost -Prysm's hair looks super silly

Another excellent expansion that just adds more 'life', more character combos, more game play dynamics, and more fun to what's already an awesome MOBA-like team game. And once again, I'm looking forward to the next expansion to this amazing game. Lots of good options for further refining an already developed team style OR do a complete ground-up remake. Range-control (Dart), control (Eclypse), one of the nastiest control-bruisers (Prysm), and movement-control (Bixie). This is just an all-around 'control' fest and one that adds a lot of great layers to an already engaging team-building game.
