Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management

AutumnFall
One of my new favorites, has deckbuilding but so much more. Love the mechanics, especially exploiting depths.
Ambrose
Rough around the edges but a really engaging spin on pool building in which snowballing is offset by extraction and progression towards game-ending conditions.

Card combo game with an interesting 'slide up' mechanism. It plays nearly too fast and ends abruptly when conditions are met (although everyone gets one more turn). This is because scoring locations normally require more than one turn - so if you didn't set up for the last turn, you're kinda out of choices for points. Everything else runs smoothly. Rules could use some work with special cases and general detailed explanation. Otherwise, a fine engine building game!
