Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

A perfect expansion. It adds another player, it adds more locations and creatures that are fun and interesting, and it reworks the shared objectives to the tribes module (the objectives were the weakest part of the base game). If I had to find a negative it would be that the magnifying glass symbol can be confusing to some players, but this a very VERY minor issue.

This takes a great game and makes it even better! I couldn't ask for anything more in an expansion. I don't think I'll ever play with the original goal track again. The tribes module gives you so many new scoring and combo options to build around. 10/10 expansion

This game was a quick to set up, learn and play in just over an hour for 2 players. Underwater kingdoms are recruiting characters and buying or conquering locations. Each turn consists of playing a character card which guides your actions. You need to have coins to buy more characters and power or coins to get the locations. Some character cards give you coin or powers but more come from playing locations and moving them up on your player mat. You can also use some stingrays with extras on them to make up the difference. Then you need to score the location cards by moving them into the chest in order for you to get the points at the bottom at the end of the game. I found that the location cards languished a bit long because the scout action kind of is a risk or waste of turn but it's the only way to reset the 6 spaces and make more available. I also thought that in a two player game the goals at the top only had two options so once we each scored two categories there was really no pressure to get the other two but I guess it could be one person who gets all 4 goals first so it wouldn't always be so even. Also, there are new goals to try out in the expansion.
