Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Barring AE's bad component quality, the Nameless is a worthy addition to the main game. The Blight Lord adds an interesting set of decisions with the Tainted Jade gems. The Wayward one is interesting for players who enjoy positional changes, though it didn't click for us. I could see Wayward being a favorite of most players. The Mage included wasn't too incredibly interesting. All of the market cards included are solid. Overall, this expansion is good for players who want to mix up the antagonists quite a bit and want to pad out their market with a solid set of cards that tend to be good all around.

The variety it adds to Aeon's End is good enough to make it worth buying if you're a fan of the game who randomizes, even if the one nemesis is a modified (although not identical) take on a nemesis in the base box and the three breach mages aren't what I'd call *too* useful. See my Blue Boards episode on the Wave 1 expansions for more info.

Malastar is a fun mage, and the Wayward One is a very fun boss fight. Blight Lord is also a good boss, but a bit less interesting for sure.
