First 2 plays at club (06/11/2014). Very impressed. Simple mechanics, but a fair bit of tactical nuances to take into account. Under 2 hours in total, so good for an evening session.

Exactly what I love in a board game... strategic game play, multiple choices, stunning artwork and components, easy and quick to learn, great design, combination of luck and strategy and FUN. Always want to play it again when the game ends. So glad I own this one

It's a light to medium-heavy set collection game. Players take turns until one player recruit 7th Lord or only 2 Lord cards left on the board. 3 phases: Plot at Court - pay 1 Pearl each to fill the court (optional) then Take 1 Action (Explore the Depths - Ally/Monster OR Request Support from the Council OR Recruit a Lord) which ties in with the 3 tracks on board then Control Location (mandatory) if you have 3 Keys or more. You get points from Locations (bonus multiplier), Lords, Affiliated Allies & Monster Tiles. Most importantly, get Allies to recruit the Lords to control Locations. The Lord cards required some reading which might be a turn off to some. The Pearls as resources is what drawn me to this game but it's not really useful during the game, only for some actions. The visual & the colourfulness of the game is mesmerizing nevertheless. Too light for my taste, a bit thin on theme, not so much a keeper.
