Pleasant card-building game where you use allies to get Lords to get locations, each of which are worth increasing victory points, while Lords also give you special abilities.

Enjoyable game, but I felt it really needed its expansions, which were out of print. I also wasn't impressed enough with it to invest that sum in it, so I sold it instead. I'll still gladly play it (it's quite elegant and enjoyable), but I don't need to own it.

This is a really fun easy to grasp game. I do think the whole game is a little over produced and could have reached a much larger audience if they put it in a 7 wonders sized box. The board just holds cards which could be done in the table or several small bifold boards. the cardboard locations are giant and not really serve any purpose and could have been a scoring card that sits in front of you like the rest of the cards with the key cards under it. It's a normal size box to hold oversized cardboard and a deck of cards. The game itself is interesting in which cards to use as currency to get lords that grant abilities or keys which can be used to purchase scoring tiles. I like that the powers to away generally because they have keys on them when converted to scoring tiles so you have to plan appropriately to best utilize them before they are gone. The auction to other players during explore is interesting and the push your luck element to it. The rewards get better the more you risk but the higher chance your opponent might get it. It all blends together quite nicely. The art is phoneminal and the pearls and cups are very cool. Lots of theme and the soundtrack was unexpected but a nice addition. If this was in a 7 wonders sized box with everything shrunk and half the retail price, it would be near perfect for us. However since it is what it is we will find space on the shelf and continue to play it.
