English only edition of [gameid=209734], by Indie Boards & Cards (2018) Described as "an epic war of Rock-Paper-Scissors"

You actually get to play Rock, Paper, Scissors in this game. Cute art but very mean. It is beat up on the leader type of game as it is a race to 10 points. Not really my type of game, but it was fun enough.

2022-02-23 Initial Rating: 5.0 (February 2022) Indie Boards & Cards has created some great games (Coup, The Resistance) so I was willing to try Conflicting Legends (Second Edition). In my mind, if there was a second edition, the game couldn´t be that bad but I was sorely mistaken. I´m trying to come up with some redeeming qualities and I´m coming short. Conflicting Legends (Second Edition) is not a game for me in any way. Conflicting Legends (Second Edition)´s rules are very easy to teach. You can do it under 2 minutes. Playtime is around 30 minutes. The game´s components are ok, they are just card and tokens. The art is also ok but not to my liking. There is no theme. In theory famous personalities of the past are fighting but you don’t feel it anywhere. Reading the description, I thought this would be a Who Would Win kind of game (it is not) but the personalities serve no purpose here. Gameplay is very straightforward with very few important decisions. The goal is to capture enough territories to win the game, so players will attack among themselves to avoid this. The attack, I grant you, is the funniest past of the game, a player is attacked with a rock-paper-scissors match and if the attacker wins, he will take the territory. There are some attack cards that allow you to slightly change the rules of the attack. There is also a way to develop a territory you have, and, in this way, it becomes more valuable. All things considered; this is a bad game with obvious decisions. The luck factor is very high as there are several cards with different powers and they are unbalanced, still, ganging up on the perceived leader is much more impactful. I heavily dislike both of these things in the game. Best with 4 players. Bottom line, I wasn’t expecting anything good from Conflicting Legends (Second Edition) but the game still managed to disappoint me. The luck factor is very high, the game features tons of “take that” which I heavily dislike and the game´s decisions are obvious every time. The only redeeming factor I can think of is that playing rock-paper-scissors can be fun (sometimes). The game´s theme makes no sense, and the fighting personalities also make no sense. I already sold my copy of the game. IF you want to see personalities fighting Who Would Win is a much better game. Current Rating: 2.0 Jgoyes´ Awards: [imageid=5786751inline]
