Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Games with partnerships offer players a set of rules for alliances and teams. Partners are often able to win as a team, or penalties are enforced for not respecting alliances
Partnerships
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.

Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement

Very surprised. Having never played Neuroshima Hex myself, I was not too familiar with the game but the rules nor the theme ever struck me as interesting. Now with this game, the theme appealed, there wasn't a dozen extra factions or so I had to track down, and opinions seemed to hold it high regard. So I jumped on it....Great decision! The game is awesome. At first, the games rules are a LITTLE off putting with the way the battles work, but once it is put into action, the game rules smoothly and quickly. I'm almost in awe with how tactical, interesting, and exciting the game stands with just a handful of tiles on a small map. Each faction feels very different and although I think a couple of the factions are a little more overpowered from the start without knowledge. Every faction can be played to great effectiveness with only minor experience towards what is available to you and the playstyle of the faction itself. This is where those awesome (in functionality and design/appearance) player aids come in handy. Just a measured glance at them before a battle, and you will be surprised how effective you can be with a faction you haven't yet played yourself. Artwork is fantastic and brutal. I still can't decide if I like the "monolith" feature itself, but it is largely unnecessary, but there if you want to spice things up. This will be my go to skirmish game for 2P unless I am looking for something much heavier or longer......oh yea, did I mention how FAST this game is????

The production quality on this game is fantastic. I wish more manufactures would go the extra mile like this. But over all I like the theme better on this. But also the factions are more asymmetrical when compared with Nuro.. Hex. The monolith idea is also great!
