I enjoy playing this expansion! When I play by myself I usually use a bunch of cubes to replace the deck (I match the number of card colors to cube colors) because shuffling so often makes me crazy. The prayer mechanic is very cool and I've gotten the hang of how to play and do well with the Aztecs. So happy to have it!

The push your luck element really shines in Imperial Settlers. However, while Aztecs are a fun faction to experience, they drastically increase the games length. They are absolutely worth the buy and fantastic at one and two player counts.

Another faction expansion that adds its own mechanic (push your luck flipping cards looking for color matches). Like Atlaneans, it adds 10 cards to each of the other factions which really dilutes things and provides cross-faction mechanics that don't make much sense. This is a nice faction to add to the game for completion's sake. They do seem awfully powerful at production and many of their buildings don't require a foundation so these may be more powerful than the base factions.
