Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.

Walls of York is a very easy to learn and very light strategy game of "multiplayer solitaire". The object is simply to have the most coins after 2 rounds as you each race to wall off the King's decreed amount of churches, wells and market spaces, while getting as many coins spaces as you can but avoiding viking spaces. The cardboard dice tower you assemble is a nice center piece for the table but does not work well if players are sitting on all 4 sides of a table, since one person will not be able to see the dice results. It was disappointing that the player boards once punched, may need to have their edges lightly sanded to fit properly in their frames but this is a minor complaint. During setup I did not see the benefit for any specific orientation of the tiles and it made that portion of the game feel almost irrelevant. Don't get me wrong I know it is in there to randomize the locations of all the squares on the boards but there should be some element of strategy to this process to make people care about it. Overall this game is really light, almost to a fault and I don't think I would have been happy to pay more than $20 for this (I only paid $8). You can teach this to literally anyone but I only see this working as an introductory game. I also found no reason not to play with the two optional rules "Perfect Plan" and "The Longest Walls". Recommended to buy if on sale and you need something else to play with non-gamers.

Simple family game, ok game, where you physically build walls like fences, could be a good game with kids.

Did not enjoy this game at all. Feels like you pick a path and can follow it no matter what comes up.
