Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

2-4 The other game most likely to be in my pocket. The action cards represent Intrigues, but they do not name, or describe, the plot. Instead the outcome is prssented as a sort of encoded icon (made up of Who, Where and What). It is up to the players to decipher this, giving their own interpretation of events. Machiavellian narratives ensue. Brilliant.

I demoed "Treachery In A Pocket" on SPIEL'17. Definitely a nice strategic game. Counting the little material it is composed of, it has an astonishing depth.

This was acceptable for the time I was playing it but if I were in a position to choose this to play I'd most likely pass.
