In Tiny Towns: Villagers, word has spread far and wide of a thriving little civilization in the forest. Creatures with incredible talents – from engineers to merchants – have come to visit these towns and decide where they will make their new homes. They offer the most astute town mayors their skills, which can transform buildings, control the influx of resources, and perform impressive architectural feats. The world of Tiny Towns is getting a bit bigger!

Expansion ranking: necessary-[size=11][b]nice[/b][/size]-needless. Villagers are a nice wrinkle to building and much harder to leverage than they initially sound. Most Villager abilities are strong, some so to render much of the game's typical biting interaction moot, and with only 7 Villager cards (6 if you omit the one requiring Fortune) there is little you can do with Villagers as an upgrade to the experience. Bottom line is that Villagers makes the game easier, and I don't think I want the game to be easier. 16 of the 18 building cards don't require villagers though, so that's good news (and 13 of them are worth building too!). Notably, I still need to test the Tiny Tears variant in which you may only place resources where Villagers are. It sounds like fun.

By no means a necessary expansion, but neither improves or worsen the game. More options if you have played the main game to death.
