Description from the publisher:
Night is falling and your tamed critters have somehow escaped their enclosure! Head into the forest and tempt them back with juicy lightning bugs in Smile, a game of gathering cute creatures for three to five players.
In every game of Smile, you and your fellow players attempt to lure your critters back by taking turns placing fireflies on their cards one at a time. But be careful! Wild critters are equally enamored with your fireflies, but will give you negative points. Wisely spend your fireflies to attract the best critters while saving enough to bid in future rounds. Just remember: In the end, you’ll be surrounded by a collection of cute smiling creatures — for better or worse!

Schacht is well known for having designed a good bunch of really clever little games like Coloretto, Elefant im Porzelanladen, or Gold! Smile reminds automatically to the fantastic No Thanks! Try to collect the positive cards, pay money to pass and put it in the bad cards, and be careful not to collect cards with same color, or you will have to remove them from your collection... which may actually be good if you had a negative! Very nice production.

Was hoping this might be a "No Thanks 2.0" for me but so far falls a little short. Uses similar mechanics but for some reason feels a little more brutal and less elegant. I think I still prefer No Thanks given it's super-straight forward play. This does have some great art and glass beads though unlike the very spartan No Thanks.

No Thanks with really, really nice art. The negative cards make it not flow as well and thus nor be as much fun as No Thanks. But for little kids the art can grab them.
