(I Don't Assign Ratings To Children's Games) My First Stone Age isn't much of a game, but it has interesting game mechanisms that make it perfect for children learning how to start playing more complex board games. It's pretty thematic too and it's easy to teach as you go. And best of all, it feels like I'm playing a game which is a big thing compared to most young children's board games. I think it has a nice mix of luck and memory and I like how the game accelerates once the different action spots have been discovered. The Wildcard Dog is a little too powerful, but it helps the game play in a timely manner and children probably won't see the imbalance. It's occasionally annoying when you can't take a particular action (run out of resources or nothing to trade), but I think that teaches overcoming small disappointments. It says 5+ on the box, but my son learnt how to play when he turned 3 and he loves it. I can't imagine him wanting to play it at 5 as we will have long moved on, I think.
Cold Blue
A little to simplistic. Too easy to keep track of the hut. Good for the age on the box, but not much higher.
Beiren
Rated as kids game. Nice big pieces, easy rules and still a bit of a challenge. Kids who are easily distracted will not win this game. They won't see where some essential tokens are.
