Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

I really hate these expansions. Playing with the recommended variable setup kills all synergy between the cards. Some of the cards might be okay if added intelligently and intentionally into the mix, but I don't see any setup like that recommended. Just makes a normally good, streamlined game clunky, long, and blargh.

Machi Koro without expansions is quite boring. But with the expansions offered in this edition, it's fun and easy to play!

Played because it’s a friends favourite game. I spent 5 turns doing practically nothing as no blue or red cards showed up for me in the randomised marketplace and my die rolls consistently got me nowhere. By the time I was out of the gate all the other players had a real head start on me for blue and red cards which felt like a huge disadvantage. I’m sorry but any game that can give a player five rounds of nothing is poorly designed. Sure I got to buy some green cards when my money hadn’t been stolen by other people’s cafes but crikey… Also feels like it should be a fun light filler game but we spent an hour and a quarter playing, felt like just waiting for the obvious winner to save up enough for his airport. Spent the whole time wishing I was playing Century or Splendor, at least with these you always have something useful to do on a turn and in century if you’re “behind” you can try to force an early end game. This game was grim and goes firmly in the same pile as monopoly for me.
