Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Nice little step up from cottage garden and two steps up from Patchwork. More to think about and the spacial element is heightened with holes in the forest floor and resource management. Good fun, would recommend for genre fans! Doesn't 'kill' anything for me, I am happy to have the game play options of all the iterations, including Barenpark. Probably like this title best ATM.

As a huge fan of autumn, the look of this game will likely prove my favorite of Uwe's tile placement line. This also differs from Cottage Garden in that you are racing to complete your plots of autumn forest rather than scoring the most, and I enjoy how the little tokens give you different special abilities. Depth-wise, I'd say the two are comparable, but although I enjoyed Cottage Garden this one just has that extra appeal with the leaves, the animals, and the vibrant 'New England' flair, which I live on a normal basis, though it's heavily abstracted here. Will have to pick up Spring Meadow for a full comparison once that arrives!
