Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Love Noch Mal and one of the only games I will play solo. A fantastic roll and write that presents a perfect challenge of racing for points vs expanding your options. 3 Players is best and keeping eyes on you opponents’ papers is crucial for good play. Expansion pads are simple and get the job done (increase variability)

Best roll & write, probably. I've played Ganz schön clever too, and that's really neat, but you can definitely play it too much. You can get tired of the Encore solo game, for sure. In that sense it's similar to Ganz schön clever, too. The difference is that Encore's multiplayer game feels very different, like a whole new game! Whereas in Ganz schön clever everyone's doing kind of their own thing, so you'll get tired of both the multiplayer and solo games since they're basically the same. Ganz schön clever is a neater experience on your first play, but Encore beats it in the end.

Played smoother than I expected. I can see the influence of this on Wurfelland too. Just enough thinking and length for the complexity.
