Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Played with 2 players - both gf and I really enjoyed it. It's fun to create frankenanimals, and the artwork is beautiful. The extinction events and changing biomes force improvising strategies. Would be curious to see what it's like with more people. There's quite a bit of bookkeeping in this game, which I don't mind, but others might find tedious. Rules were slightly ambiguous (e.g. for card draw), but didn't encounter any major issues yet. Overall, very happy backing this project, and the creators couldn't have been nicer along the way : )

The game is very pretty, that's why 5 stars. Board game mechanics are 2 or 3 for me. One of the most dissapointing games in my library. As refence, I like heavy euros a lot.

Beautiful artwork and the mechanics are good (compare Evolution), but oh so fiddly to play and takes up heaps of space. With chits all over the place it becomes quite an accounting headache. Would not want to be playing with more than 4 - probably 3 the best?
