Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

What 'we' wanted Everdell to be! I highlighted 'we' so no one gets offended! It's just the way we roll :) I actually like Everdell more than my wife, so it just doesn't get to the table at home. I actually avoided this for a long while thinking it might be too light. While it doesn't hit the high notes of other dicey Euros I prefer, this is nice to have in rotation for the occasional play, and is quite enjoyable.

Very thematic, if you can just imagine that you’re a cute animal family that lives in the valley and you and your family are preparing for a cosy winter. A dice worker placement through a push-your-luck mechanic. I’m sold. Also it has this contracts / set-collection element to it? I guess any worker placement game where you collect resources you can see the resources are sets that you’re collecting. Also, the main “working” areas are refreshed every turn? Fantastic. Also, you have 2 private dices, you roll them, then you assign your 4 worker meeples, then you roll the shared 4 dices and you start assigning the total 6 dices to whatever worker that needed it (the push-your-luck element I was talking about). Fantastic. BTW, if you didn’t manage to get the worker his needed dice, you get a lesson-learned token which can be used in subsequent turns to raise or lower the value of a dice by one. This game is now my wife’s favorite game. I actually brought it because I figured she will like it. I am good at predicting if a person I know would like a certain game or not. —— We mainly play as two players. We decided to remove the glades out of the improvements deck because they are not very good at two players. —— After we finished our first session with 6 turns, we decided that we wanted to play next time with the full version of 8 turns. 6 turns left you with wanting to play it more. 8 turns left you satisfied and fulfilled. —— As for the dreams come true expansion, it didn’t click that will with my wife. Mainly all the ones she got were a long shot. She will give it another try nonetheless.
