Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Concordia, as always, is an incredibly thoughtful and elegant game, and I continue to enjoy it more and more as I play it. Quinns of Shut up and Sit Down said that if he could run away with one game, it would be [thing=124361][/thing], and I have to agree. It's a transitional design between "OG-style" Euro games and the modern Euros. The spatial board placement is important, but all-out blocking is not really possible -- it's more of a you-scratch-my-back-I-scratch-yours sort of uneasy tolerance, particularly with building houses before other players, and firing off the Prefect region bonuses. Concordia has no flaws to me. This is what I want in a 2-hour Euro experience, and it's so good that it makes me wonder if I can safely purge some of the aforementioned games. Down half a point after repeated plays. It's a great game, but it's not near Mombasa or Great Western Trail. Excellent! Played 1 game and was blown away. 10 games in, I love this game. Perfect 10 in my book. No luck involved, only the players' skills matter.Very elegant, streamlined, and enjoyable.
