Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Having played through Stuffed Fables (with adults), this was a bit of a letdown, even if it's the adult version of this game system. The story itself is more interesting, but the way it's presented is much worse. They tried to do something "interesting" with having to guess which emotion is at play for the scenario, but the way you get clues feels like you're just killing time, leading to very un-interesting gameplay. Ironically, it seems like it would've been better served if it was just straight chronological stories without repeating all the time. As it is, the game just drags and drags and drags. There's much more killing turns waiting for "perfect dice" than SF because the challenges are very specific, enemies are more difficult, and there are almost no weapons or at least none that are easily accessible. Some of the gameplay systems are improved over Stuffed Fables, but others are much worse, so it's a bit of a wash at best. Overall, if you have the option, I'd say go for SF first unless the theme really appeals to you. If you do go Comanauts, I feel you really need to house rule how the scenarios come out so you just do one specific scenario and enemy to avoid repeating and wasting time. With that, it's stilled flawed and frustrating, but on a much more manageable level. Without that house rule, it's at best a 5 for me.

I like this game very much. It is similar to Stuffed Fables (SF), but with a different story. Both games are narrative games where you live what is happening. Contrary to other opinions, I think rules are quite easy to understand if you watch some videos. I like the narrative aspects of both games and what I like the most is the new different mechanisms in some pages, it is what makes me continuing playing, since it is like playing new games. However, I do not like the combats at all, they are too repetitive and this is what stops me playing the games more often. Compared to SF, Comanauts have a more adult story, but it is also less appealing, even for adults. On the contrary, Comanauts is not as “simple” as SF, it has more changes in mechanisms in different pages, what improves the game.

Comanauts is immersive. Like above and below and time stories. It's an RPG. Took 2 hours felt much longer. We won, great theme and story but I have been exhausted
